Salesian Cooperator beatified
On Saturday 15 May 2019 Edvige Carboni, a Salesian Cooperator, was beatified in Pozzomaggiore, Sardinia, Italy. Blessed Edvige was a humble and strong woman who lived a simple life of manual work and service, in the family and towards many needy people she met, yet filled with graces and extraordinary spiritual gifts. Born in Pozzomaggiore on 3 May 1880, she wanted to become a religious, but had to stay close to her sick mother. Since then she spent her life alternating household chores with moments of prayer. Wantok Bosco -PNG
“Wantok Bosco PNG” took place on June 8-9, 2019 at DBTI, Boroko East. The gathering of youth leaders and animators of Youth groups aimed at forming the participants in Salesian Youth Spirituality, which is the animating strength of every group that make up the Salesian Youth Movement. After 2 weeks “Wantok Bosco SI” will take place in Henderson, Solomon Islands.
Reaching Out to the Children of Ranadi Landfill
Henderson, Solomon Islands – since last year the Salesian community of DBTI Henderson has initiated a programme to reach out to the children and youth of Ranadi Landfill at the outskirts of Honiara. Every afternoon of Tuesday and Thursday as well as every Saturday morning, Salesians and Lay Mission Partners welcome the children and youth of Ranadi for literacy classes and skills training. On Sundays the Salesians themselves go to Ranadi to celebrate the Eucharist for the Catholic community.
Marian Camp
Last May 25-26, 2019 the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians, Boroko East, conducted the Marian Camp for the youth group ‘300 youth for Mary’ under the leadership of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (Salesian sisters). Through group dynamics, fun games and inputs the 538 participants from parishes, Catholic schools and tertiary institutions were challenged to be servant-leaders among their fellow youth. The high point was the Taize prayer experience with the possibility to receive the sacrament of reconciliation. First Profession of 3 Salesians
May 24, 2019 – Boroko East, PNG – Three novices of the Vice-Province of Blessed Philip Rinaldi (PGS) made their first profession as Salesians in the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians. Br. Thomas Bwagaaro and Br. Anthony Wale are from the Solomon Islands. Br. Paul Paiara is from PNG. Their families and friends were present to participate in simple but meaningful rite.
Aspirants’ Seminar-Workshop on Addictions
May 25, 2019 – The aspirants of Savio Haus had a full day Seminar-Workshop on Addictions conducted by Fr. Philip Lazatin SDB. Through reflections, sharing and group discussions the 15 Salesian College aspirants were helped to discover in themselves the signs of different forms of addictions.
Listening to the youth of Vanuatu
In the evening of 14th May 2019, in the context of their exploratory visit to Vanuatu, Fr. Václav Klement SDB, General Councillor for East Asia and Oceania and Fr. Alfred Maravilla SDB, Provincial of PGS Vice-Province, spent time to listen to Catholic youth leaders of the Diocese of Port Vila. The youth leaders spoke of the eagerness of ni-Vanuatu youth to live their faith as well as the plight of many non-selected youth who are pushed out after Grade 6 and do not receive sufficient technical training. PGS participants at Salesian Studies Seminar
PGS participants at Salesian Studies Seminar 4 representatives from PGS are participating in the Salesian Studies Seminar level III at Batualo, Philippines from 8-30 May 2019. Mr. Martin Dai, Mr. Narol Sapak, Ms. Catherine Nongkas and Fr. Casper Charles are participating in the 3 weeks level 3 course for teachers of Salesianity.

Don Bosco was creative, enthusiastic and enterprising in his work. He wrote and edited booklets, school texts, histories, digests, magazines, fliers, plays. From his earliest years as a priest, Don Bosco communicated through his whole demeanour and person, through games, talking, visiting, preaching, and publishing. Communicating through the internet and publishing is a priority for Salesians. Inspired by this example of Don Bosco and the early Salesians, Social Communication continues an important priority.
